Nehru Trophy Boat Race

The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It takes place on Punnamda Lake, near Alappuzha(Alleppey). It is held on the second Saturday of August every year. Approximately 200000 people are gathered during this boat race, including tourists also. For the local people here, victory of any village will be celebrated for months to come.
