Navaratri festival is celebrated for nine nights in praise of Lord Ram and Goddess Durga. The festival is marked with a staged play of the great epic ‘Ramayana’ for nine days. Navaratri is also a religious festival with the common theme of the victory of good over evil. The elaborate celebrations of Navaratri are seen in Gujarat. In Gujarat, every night people gather in the common place or courtyards to dance upon the Garba and Dandiya Raas. It is a community dance in which men and women are dressed in colorful festive clothes dancing in pairs with Dandiya.
