Ka Pomblang Nongkrem is the important and beautiful festival of the Khasis people. It is a five-day festival and it is held annually in November at Smit near Shillong. The festival is celebrated for thanksgiving to the Goddess Ka Blei Synshar for a rich harvest and prosperity of the people. A goat is also sacrificed to the deity of Shillong peak, during this festival. Khasi men and women are dressed in traditional clothes on this day and perform the famous Nongkrem dance.
